Surface Combustor Burner Range
Designed to operate on the Surface Combustion principle, these burners are suitable for heating processes requiring a uniform spread of heat for a maximum surface temperature of 850 degrees C, avoiding local heating or hot spots which may be a problem when nozzle or open flame burners are used. The mixing chamber is made of high quality cast iron, and the porous refractory blocks are manufactured from specially graded granules throughout the 1 1/2" thickness. This type of burner can be fitted in any position, i.e. radiating horizontally, vertically upwards or downwards or at any intermediate angle, and are suitable for building into ovens and furnaces, direct heating processes, or suspended over conveyor systems. They have a nominal rating of 400 BTU per sq. inch of burner surface, using low pressure gas and air, in conjunction with a suitable injector. The required mixture pressure is not high, and air pressure in the order of 4" to W.G. are adequate The gaseous mixture, supplied to the mixing chamber, permeates through the porous blocks and burns off on the surface of the burner. Intense radiance occurs a few minutes after lighting, combustion being characterised by a complete absence of flame when attaining the correct working temperature. Pattern 2458 is the burner specified in the U.S.A. the European Union and in Australasia by Fire Testing standards.
